My Turn
OK FOLKS IT'S MY TURN.... Aren't these fun??? PUKE!
You are drunk Elmo. You love to have fun and you
drink to lower your inhibitions and allow
yourself to cut loose a little more. You are
always hyper and happy and most people find you
to be very annoying, especially when you're
drunk.

how I sleep
What Your Sleeping Position Says |
You are confident and ready to tackle life. You are pretty vain and happy with your physical appearance. You are born to be the center of attention, and you're unhappy on the sidelines. You're always up for trying something new - in and out of bed! |
3:30 AM INSOMNIA AT IT'S FINEST
Well it's 3:30 a.m. and I'm trying to put myself to sleep. I've edited my blogger profile, looked up a whole bunch of useless nonsense. Read some poker content blah blah blah... Figure there is no better way to put myself to sleep than to listen to myself ramble. It's a dirty job that no one wants so I might as well do it.
So I'm updating my profile and it asks me for my favorite books. I got to thinking about how much I really enjoyed reading "The Outsiders" in high school. I had a paperback copy that I read so many times that it literally fell apart. I've seen the movie and read the book well over 100 times. I don't know what it was about that movie and book but I always really liked them...
Izzy watched Mr. Mom with Michael Keaton the other day. She loved it. She thinks it's the greatest thing since Shrek or something. It's just nice to sit down and watch a "normal" movie or TV show with her that is not some freaking drive you nuts cartoon. I'm going to pick her up from school tomorrow instead of having her stay in after school since I'm off. Maybe I'll take her to Gattiland or McDonalds Playland or something. I would take her to the park but the weather SUCKS BUTT. It's rained for the last month and a half or something... I would rather have winter. At least with winter you know what to expect. Get it here and get it over with so it can be Spring again....
OK adios amigos I was able to get myself yawning and I'm sure I was able to do the same for you...

The stuff's gone..
Well most of it anyway... In accordance with our new philosophy of simplify simplify simplify (and because Chad was tired of moving huge containers of clothes around) I had a rummage sale... It rained this morning - bummer- and it's nice an sunny now, of course!
I managed to get rid of a bunch of clothes, mostly Izzy -- that girl is 4, but I haven't rid myself of any of her clothes until now! What didn't sell, I'm going to consign - and some of it I gave to the City Mission.
Our big rush was from 8-8:30 where we made close to 100 dollars... mostly to Chad's CD's... Yep... we now have no CD's (Except for my RuPaul/EltonJohn single of Don't Go Breaking My Heart!) and my guest closet is empty! Whoo Hoo!
We've also moved our furniture around a bit, and it is quite livable now!

The Time Machine -- 15 years ago tomorrow!
Found this while I was preparing for my "Name Your Own Price Cause I'm Tired Of Lookin' At My Shit Sale" Sorry if the image takes a while - I was playing with the resolution settings....
Here is one from the same notebook... From me.. I think if you click on the image, you can zoom in a bit -- talk about ADD girl!
And the last one for now... I cut out the name to protect the author... I think the back page bled through. As a linguaphile, it's interesting to see us on the cusp of the new language of the decade...

Inspired by Nuttyblonde and design... here the the pics from the people who weren't to chicken to wait in line for a MAJOR TELEVISION STAR and SOME OTHER GUY JUST RIDIN" HIS COATTAILS...
I do have the autographed pic... i think it's in my parent's attic...
Good times good times....
Oh, and here is from when I met Guns N' Roses....

Never say we are not impulsive!
Well, the other day we said goodbye to a good friend... this friend had been with us for some time. We liked this friend. But, as they say in the movies, we were "made an offer we couldn't refuse"
Ha Ha - it wasn't like that kind of offer, but we did get an offer on the camper, so we sold it...
It was a tough decision, but probably for the best overall... (damn, camping is expensive!)

My Daily Led Zeppelin
My dear ski is always talking about her daily Led Zeppelin so I thought I'd share mine. I get in the car to leave for work today and there is no talking or anything on the radio just quiet... Then they start Stairway to Heaven and I make it almost all the way to work hearing that song and the weather.... About a 12 to 14 minute trip.... For those of you who don't know that song is the #1 most requested song of all time according to some blah blah poll from some record spinning magazine....

Sixteen Candles
Chad and I were watching sixteen candles on DVD tonight (Originally, it was reality bites, but I guess we don't have that one on DVD) ... well, he fell asleep... but anyway...
when they are showing up for the wedding, outside the church... the sister is wearing a green raincoat - it was one of those raincoats that was a bright color on the outside, but had a print pattern on the inside, usually ducks or scotties, or something of the sort... did anyone have one of these? What was the brand? I remember they had a unique plastic smell about them...(OK, maybe that was just mine.)
Just curious!
Also - when Jake and Farmer Ted are talking in his kitchen, what is written on the wall behind Jake's head Yucky? Yuppy? -- it looks like it's in blood, or perhaps pizza sauce. Any guesses?
OK - Heathers is going in next ( favorte scene - when V burns her hand on the lighter, but JD lights his fag from her burning hand - that totally rocks!)

Why having a kid is cool
Tonight, while singing "Let's go to the movies" I open up the fridge to heat up some meatloaf (I don't normally eat meatloaf because I have no idea what other people put in it, but I made some Kickass meatloaf yesterday, so it was OK) and I found this:
Just empty Dixie cups. She's sleeping now, and I can't wait to hear the explanation on this one!

Ahh the lovely Boylan Sisters!
OK-- Got all excited today to watch one of my favorite shows - taped especially for me on the TIVO... I go to play it, and it only recorded 3 minutes of it.... Now, since my daughter and husband were the ones who could delete it at the time - it ws probably one of them...
So now I just have to leave you with me singing a song from one of my favorite musicals - ANNIE
I tell you , I don't feel like smiling much now, since my show got deleted...grrr... However, the 1999 version is coming on soon - but that one is just not the same!
But hopefully, soon, it will be on my TIVO search again, and I'll be able to tape it in bliss and sing all of the songs for you!
So now I just have to leave you with me singing a song from one of my favorite musicals - ANNIE
Doo doodle-oo doo
Doo doodle-oo doo
Doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo
Who cares what they're wearing on Main Street
or Saville Row
It's what you wear from ear to ear
And not from head to toe that matters
So, Senator, so, janitor
So long for a while
Remember you're never fully dressed
Though you may wear the best
You're never fully dressed without a
Smile
Smile
Smile!!!
Smile darn ya, smile.
I tell you , I don't feel like smiling much now, since my show got deleted...grrr... However, the 1999 version is coming on soon - but that one is just not the same!
No one's there when your dreams at night get creepy!
No one cares if you grow...of if you shrink!
No one dries when your eyes get wet an' weepy!
You'll stay up till this dump shines
like the top of the Chrysler Building.
Yank the whiskers from her chin
Jab her with a safety Pin
Make her drink a mickey finn
I love you, Miss Hannigan
It's the hard-knock life for us
It's the hard-knock life for us
No one cares for you a smidge
When your in an orphanage
But hopefully, soon, it will be on my TIVO search again, and I'll be able to tape it in bliss and sing all of the songs for you!
When I'm stuck a day
That's gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And Grin,
And Say,
Oh!
The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow! Tomorrow!
I love ya Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A way!

Fun with Lyrics II
For guessing the last lyrics, Phats gets to pick the next selection... it's a good one!
Again - cheaters will plagued with spam!Lord I've really been real stressed
Down and out, losin ground
Although I am black and proud
Problems got me pessimistic
Brothers and sisters keep messin up
Why does it have to be so damn tuff?
I don't know where I can go
To let these ghosts out of my skull
My grandmas past, my brothers gone
I never at once felt so alone
I know you're supposed to be my steering wheel
Not just my spare tire (home)
But lord I ask you (home)
To be my guiding force and truth (home)
For some strange reason it had to be (home)
Take me to another place
Take me to another land
Make me forget all that hurts me
Let me understand your plan

My 80's wishlist
OK - have a few minutes from my office hours tonight to type this in before I forget (DL a big file on my work computer)
Things I want back from the 80's (or something like that - can't remember what I'm supposed to call this)
In no particular order
Feathered hair
Strollin bowlin'
Mini-series - long sweeping stories, bundled into two hour bits for a week long of fun!
(I guess technically shows like 4400 could be mini-series, since they don't take a whole 26 season episode run, but come on! I want the Thornbirds back along with Winds of War, North and South, and War and Rememberance!)
Barettes with ribbons, and while we are on the subject:
Roach clips with feathers for your hair
Painter's caps (and if they have the flaps - even better!)
The "made for Microwave" foods - such as milkshakes and French fries.
Tiger Beat
The Varsity Isle (Local thing...)
My walkman... ok... they can have this one back... I like my iPod
And finally:
Getting your kick from Judy Blume Books! I'm sorry, but today the girls have "Gossip Girls" Trash compared to the content in JB books!

Movies we all must see
I love movies. Here is a list of movies I absolutely can't pass up when they come on TV. And some other good ones...
- The Wedding Singer
- "Two Cones!"
- 50 First Dates
- Bawled at the end!
- Dazed and Confused
- "I just want to dance!"
- The Princess Bride
- Sigh - so many good things about this movie!
- Back to the Future
- "You built a time machine. Out of a Delorian?"
- About a Boy -
- Hugh is sooo hotttt in this one; however, if you are a fan of his, you must see
- Lair of the White Worm
- Crazy "St.George" type story, only they go after a phallic snake who likes nuns and is horny all the time... it stars the one girl from HomeFront which also starts Kyle Chandler, who is in
- Pure Country
- A little corny, but a great story!
- Major League
- Even though this wasn't filmed in Cleveland Stadium, it is a good move about a great team of characters. A classic for all Tribe Fans from way back.
- Bad News Bears
- The original - I don't particularly care for any of the other versions - this is the best!
- Enigma
- Also stars Matthew Macfadyen, Dougray Scott, Kate Winslet
- Ever After
- I'm a sucker for fairy tales
- Sixteen Candles
- Classic
- Airplane
- "Surely, you can't be serious." "I am serious. And don't call me Shirley!"
- Mommie Dearest
- I'll never look at Comet and coat hangers the same way again.
- Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
- Between the Coke machines and rocks in the pockets, Bette and Joan could kick some @$$
- Shakespeare in Love
- man-meat Joseph Finnes is great as the bard... loved the jokes (that probably only English teachers will get!)
- Twilight Zone, The Movie
- "Wanna see something really scary?"

Fun with Lyrics
I love music. I live for books movies and music. Here are some lyrics... I just may give a prize to the first who can tell me the song and the group.
No cheating!
have you ever went over a friends house to eat
and the food just aint no good
i mean the macaroni's soggy the peas are mushed
and the chicken tastes like wood
so you try to play it off like you think you can
by sayin that youre full
and then your friend says momma he's just being polite
he aint finished uh uh that's bull
so your heart starts pumpin and you think of a lie
and you say that you already ate
and your friend says man there's plenty of food
so you pile some more on your plate
while the stinky foods steamin your mind starts to dreamin
of the moment that it's time to leave
and then you look at your plate and your chickens slowly rottin
into something that looks like cheese
oh so you say that's it i got to leave this place
i dont care what these people think
im just sittin here makin myself nauseous
with this ugly food that stinks
so you bust out the door while its still closed
still sick from the food you ate
and then you run to the store for quick relief
from a bottle of kaopectate
and then you call your friend two weeks later
to see how he has been
and he says i understand about the food
baby bubbah but we're still friends
Men with accents
Here's another one.... He's on MI-5 (Pretty good show - kind of like 24, with the anti-terrorist thing, but they boil people in oil.) Anyway - Matthew Macfadyen plays Tom - very intense, but in a sexy way - meow. So, I go to the show's page to scam an image, only to find out that he is off the show... grrrr.... Good thing American TV is behind the BBC, so at least I'll get a few more shows with him in it. (The show is called Spooks across the pond, but MI-5 here... can't imagine why "spooks" wouldn't make the TVGuide???)
However - all is not lost... Took Izzy to see Wallace and Gromit last night (very funny, especially the parts for "adults") and saw a preview for the latest Austin tome to hit the screen... Pride and Prejudice. Tom is Mr. Darcy! rock on! I hope this is a decent movie. Izzy told me she wanted to see the movie...but of course, I'll have to read it to her first. I wonder how he'll stack up to Colin Firth's Darcy, though???
OK, after reading this... I've realized there are a lot of Brits here... Everything just sounds cooler with an accent!

GODDESS OF THE UNDERWORLD OR IS IT UNDERWEAR?
Since we're posting hotties why not give the "boys" something to look at... I can't allow all this Brendan "make me puke" Fraser and this other little stud to hog all the bandwidth...
So boys for your viewing pleasure we have a little of this and a little of that.... A little "tit for tat" so to speak...
And this post just wouldn't be complete without a major bit of tit for tat... I don't know who "tat" is but I really want to be him for a day....

Jumping off the bridge because all my friends are doing it.
Morning Freak out...
On my way home this morning, I hear a news update. One of the local hotels caught on fire yesterday. (During their fire inspection week, no less.) The kitchen / offices/ restaurant were burned up, and the hotel is closed. The news guy goes on to say that the Fire Marshall is investigating the cause in the 40 year old structure.
Doing the math in my head....
(Yes, I'm a little slow, when it comes to math)
Oh - that would have been in 1965. Which is 5 years away from the 1970's.... I was born in the 1970's...... which means that I WILL BE 40 SOON>>>> eeekkkkk!!
Sorry.. just a momentary morning freak out

Word Verification or Rock Band?
Way back when, a friend of mine made me a "mix-tape." Boy, those were so much cooler to put together than a CD...at least you could record things right off the radio and pack every last inch of tape with sound!
Anywhoo....
One of the songs was by KMFDM. Does anyone remember this group? Why am I sharing this? Look at my word ver. from a comment today:
OK, I know it's not the same, but I must have transposed the letters in my mind at first glance.
What's next NKOTB???

Photos
Sorry - don't have my photos from the wedding uploaded yet... however, I do offer the two below, I found them recently and thought I'd share ...
The first, my first day of college, as we are getting ready to leave. Honestly, I thought I was packing for camp. I didn't take nearly as much as I needed - I guess it didn't hit me that I would be actually *living* there.
The second... my last day of college, all of the stuff packed into the same van for the return trip. Amazing what I amassed. (And I still have some of it!) I remember taking a photo of the van loaded up, but I don't know what happened to it.

Text of an email I recieved:
>Subject: Have you locked the keys in the car?
You won't believe it, but this works -- who'd a thought it???
Have you locked the keys in the car?
If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are home, call someone
at home on your cell phone and ask them to get your car keys.
Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the other
person at home press the unlock button on your keys while holding it near
the phone on their end.
Your car will unlock. It will save someone from having to drive your keys
to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if
you can reach someone who has the remote" for your car, you can unlock the
doors (or the trunk this way!)
Editor's Note * It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over
a cell phone each time we tried it.
Now, I was going to try this in my front yard, but since we can unlock from the house, probably pretty pointless. So, I went grocery shopping today. The store is about a mile and half as the crow flies from our home. I got The Izzster on the phone, had her point the thingy at the phone and give it a go... (I'm in the parking lot, windows down, keys in my hand holding my phone up to the door handle.) No luck. Mind you, it was a smart 4 year old on speakerphone, but still didn't work. So I had Chad try... of course, he could be just saying "yes dear" and not really trying it, so who knows...
If anyone has success with this... please share!
